Dear Ignatius,
|
 |
Ah, finally relief has arrived from the atmospheric
nasties that seemed destined to stay... and perhaps
not coincidentally, an encouraging upsurge in
interesting new project discussions has been noted.
The transition to the new configuration is proceeding
at a steady pace. Good vibrations are floating
around, and the effects are welcome.

Has your browser's home page mysteriously changed
to a weird and eerie fake 'search engine'? When you
close your browser window, does it show a page
called about:blank? If so, you've been hijacked.
Spyware has gotten past your defenses and have
taken control. The better antivirus programs will
detect these, but some will not. Worse yet, your
antivirus may inform you that the nasty, although
detected, could not be removed. Run the program
again and write down the file name and path when it
gives the message again.
Don't panic. :) Delete all of your temporary files, then
run a good anti-spyware program such as Spyware
Doctor and then reboot and run it again. Hopefully at
this point you'll be free, but if not... reboot your
computer in Safe mode, by pressing F8 during the
reboot. At this point Windows is not operating so
certain procedures are free to operate without
restriction. Your graphics card will not be running so
the screen will look a bit odd. Run Windows Explorer
and navigate to the offending file and give it the
heave ho! It is possible that the infestation may
reside in the system backups... if so, it gets more
involved. For help there, and a more in-depth
discussion of it all, click the link for a resource with
all the ammo you'll need.

Artist Portfolio Site Discovered
|
 |
Artists of all media stripes, from oil painters to
photograhers, illustrators, designers and 3D artists to
anime and manga should be aware of this outlet. I
found it from a user group lead in a poster's
signature. It's great fun to navigate through the
thousands of wonderful pieces on display.
I joined up for a year since it was so fairly priced,
and one can upload as many works as you like, it
seems. You can sell your originals, or add prints and
products like cards, coffee cups, t-shirts and even
mounted canvas. A very interesting place, indeed.
